This was my first visit to Joa so I requested a consultation in the notes section online. So I arrived 10min before my original appointment at 10:15am. During the consultation, Son took about 5 seconds to look at my reference and started cutting. I was hoping we'd have some kind of dialogue about face shape, hair growth, or even my usual way of styling my hair. He's the first Viet barber I've ever had so even though we didn't have these conversations I thought I could fully trust him. There wasn't much rapport before, during or even afterwards. I'm not used to barbers not checking in with me or making sure we were moving in the right direction. There wasn't even a recommendation for products or tips for styling.

We were done by 10:52am. I get it, my hair is/was long, thick and stubborn and not easy to work with. I was honestly hoping you'd get it too. Or at least ask me at least one more question about it. Previous reviews tell me that their biggest pet peeve is late clients. Time is money and I am sorry for being 5min late but I also don't think I deserve this kind of treatment for a fundamental issue the salon seems to have around timing for cuts.

Went here on a whim today and set an appointment with Danielle- omg what a wonderful experience! She gave me an excellent transformation level hair cut (went from really long to a lob) and was super friendly and fun to talk to! The salon itself is quite spacious and really pretty inside. I will definitely be coming back here in the future for any hair/brow/nail needs! Thanks again Danielle!

When I first moved to Denver I was hesitant about choosing a barber! Salon Joa had great reviews and Son who works there has been a phenomenal barber ? I have gone once a month for nearly a year now and I have not had a single bad experience. Every cut is precisely what I ask for and I feel renewed/refreshed every time. I appreciate their entire staff who is always friendly and welcomes you with a smile.

Really amazing salon, aesthetician, and men's hair shop. The owners are really great people and members of the Denver community. They offer so many services and do a really, really excellent job with whatever you choose. I'd highly recommend them. I've been a customer for years!

I highly recommend both Hoa and Son. I drive over 30 minutes just to get a haircut from them, and it's always worth the trip. They are professional, and after seeing them for the past few years, they’ve become more like friends.

I have curly hair and have trouble finding stylists that cut my hair properly. Usually, it's left laying triangular, so I'm very choosy about who I let touch my hair. I've been going to Danielle at Salon Joa for some time now, and I always leave happy. 😀 If you have curly hair, I definitely recommend Danielle!

UPDATE: I was a faithful client for hair and sometimes nails for years with salon joa. Due to an appointment time mixup, I was running late to a hair color/cut appointment. I thought it was 10:30am they had 10am. Because of this, they called me with an attitude, canceled my appointment, and said that from now on, I'll have to pay half of any service I book up front (including nails).

I was paying quite a lot for my services there and had stopped getting my nails done here because

A. The artists were always venting about personal and inappropriate topics
B. While my nails were amazing, I never spent less than 4 hours there.
C. I booked 2 people at a time, and often one of us was left waiting because only one person was available even though we booked to be done simultaneously.

They now have only one nail tech. I've not returned since this change.

After my appointment mix-up and following treatment, when I'd never been late or no showed a single appointment I stopped going to salon joa.

I'm so happy this happened though because for the past year I've been going to a new place that only charges me $25 for my curly cuts. LADIES! If you have curly hair you know how much they upcharge. My new place does the same quality I got here but for literally like a quarter the price! I'm never going back!
