Un motel simple au bord de la route sans prétention mais confortable et fraichement rénové et redécoré. Acceuil sympathique et chaleureux. Restaurant et petit déjeuner sur place copieux, cuisine familiale.

I've given this room one star, to indicate that the rudimentary basics are provided! However, the TV doesn't work, the coffee maker doesn't work, and there's no one around to provide guidance/address problems. Since I drink tea, I put some water into the cardboard cup provided and brought down the hall to the microwave. About 30 seconds into the warming process, there was a burning smell...
Not sure if the microwave is off-duty or the cup is protesting. Either way, my tea is warm, as in 2/10. If they send you to Room 8, make sure to confirm that the TV and coffee maker work. Not a relaxing evening, to say the least.... but, it's in Grand Bank, so the location is perfect, if that's where you want to be!

Burin Peninsula Motel Experience:

Last Sunday night, my husband and I went to have dinner at the restaurant of this motel as it was highly recommended to us by locals(this says a lot).
We had the Philly steak wraps and the homemade french fries which were well-presented and very delicious. The Philly steak wrap recipe comes from Vanessa (the owner ) but her recipe and her cooks/team make it over the top, really. She is very proud of that! ….. Hands down!
The customers at the other tables were all raving about the dishes they tried.

It is very easy/quick to make a reservation for the restaurant/motel but if you are in Fortune (Grand Bank), NL you can go as well since the service of the restaurant is very efficient. For booking rooms is better in advance always.

Vanessa and team, I wanted to take a moment to express my profound gratitude for all the proper actions you took to return my wallet since I left it there by mistake. I gave you a big hug already and I can tell you that you deserve all the best in your life and in your business for being an excellent person and professional. Much appreciate it, Vanessa!

Sincerely,

Tania

Horrible customer service at this motel. At check in, the employees helping me barely knew how to look my name up in the system. I was in town for a wedding and when we came back, the key we were provided didn’t unlock the back door to the room and the main door was locked. We emailed and called all numbers on the website with no response and were forced to drive back to Burin at 2am for a place to sleep.

Upon coming back and explaining what happened, the employees said “I don’t know what to tell you” and refused to offer any compensation.

I would recommend this poor excuse of a business has a better check in process to explain to their guests that the front door will be locked after X hour and to ensure they verify their key opens the back door. The emergency number should also be better highlighted to guests.

They were out of basically everything we waited 1:30 for food and were alone in the restaurant. Comedically bad. They however really tried hard.

Understaffed, no breakfast available, room not freshened up or cleaned, request for towels not met, not ample plug ins. Very poorly managed.

My mom and I went for lunch, only us and an older couple (who was already eating) in the dinning room, we waited 15 minutes to be given the menu and placemats. Got VERY nasty and dirty cutlery, then waited another 15 minutes for our food to come out, just for the Chicken Caesar wrap to have a long piece of black hair in the wrap, and then chicken fingers being not cooked and very white and rubbery. So we just decided to leave
