I tried the galbi ribs and ate it all! So yummy I wish I could have more. We also tried the spicy pork and bibimbop and it tastes home made. The owner came out to greet us as well.

The gomtang soup was subpar. It was silky broth with small very dry beef pieces that tasted days old. It was also very bland so I had to add salt. Nothing exciting at all for the price I paid for it. I originally wanted galbitang but they didn’t have it and assured me that I would like gamtang better and I don’t. The galbi tasted good though.

$52 for spicy pork and bulgogi. DoorDash menu shows full bowl of ordered food for Joa (no rice). You’re paying $25+ for white rice. Rip off.

Response to the owner comment below: the issue was not the arrangement of food, more the portion size. Suggestions would be for larger containers or putting the rice in a separate container if concerned about sogginess.

Lives up to the ratings! Just got to go and asked for the most popular dishes. I don’t know Korean food, but I know good food and this is delicious. Spicy chicken has a string kick, the kimchi pancakes were hot and crispy, couldn’t put them down. Bulgogi with noodles has a lot of flavor and tender beef. Joa is sure to be a regular on our picks for a night off of cooking.

Some people would not he happy with limited menu, but I prefer limited menu done WELL and they did just that and then some! ?1) Ordered spicy chicken bowl.
2) Sundubu-jjigae (soup ) The dish is made with extra soft tofu with zucchini, mushrooms, onion, gochujang or gochugaru.

3) Tteokbokki - simmered rice cake in gochujang sauce with strips of fish cake (popular Korean street food)
4) Gimbap-( kimbap here in the US) gim for “seaweed” and bap for “cooked rice,” kimbap is similar to—but decidedly distinct from—a mega-sized maki sushi roll, but even better! ? The best Gimpab I have ever had! My husband says it’s a bold statement, but I stand by it 100 percent.

Front(cashier) of the house to back of the house (chef) were genuinely friendly. We got a bonus! Chef brought out mini kimchi pancake for us to try and the best kimchi pancake I have ever had as well! Yes, I eat a lot of kimchi pancakes!

I have read some other reviews and noticed people talk about pricey menu. I personally know how much time Korean dishes take to prepare. I am more than willing to pay a good price on well prepared meals. That’s just my opinion and backing with some experience in learning how to cook Korean food.

Joa is THE establishment I look forward to dining in and enjoying meals with my family after 3 hrs and 45 minutes drive from Wilmington.

Quick and easy, nothing fancy, not much choices for a vegan here, tastes accordingly. I believe you can modify rice topping to skip the egg, this way it will be vegan friendly. They do have brown rice as a choice. Their little Korean sodas are fun to try, not too sweet btw.
